On Thursday of this week I participated in a Google Hangout alongside Mrs. Scheffer. The purpose of the hangout was to discuss technology integration in school and compare and contrast student-run Help Desk classes. Mrs. Scheffer was the facilitator for this Google Hangout which meant that she was the one who decided when we go on and off the air, asked the questions, and make sure that all of the six or so members of the Hangout were participating equally and getting a chance to say all that they wanted too. I was impressed by her ability to keep the conversation not only running throughout the entire time but also very interesting as the participants were so engaged that even once we had maxed out on time and had gone off the air the conversation continued. It shows true passion when the teachers participating in the chat have a desire to continue the conversation even after the “On Air” button is off and I think that this example of passion will reflect very positively on the students that participated in the chat as well as anyone who finds and watches it because nothing is more inspiring than seeing people so passionate about their work that they can speak about it live on air for over an hour and then have a desire to continue the conversation after.
